The Free Framed DS1 interface is expected to be tariffed in FCC No. 1, Section 10, Federal Government Specialized Service or Arrangements, and both Interstate and Intrastate tariffs.
Except for the lack of an apparent Frame Format (SF, ESF, or T1DM), a Free Framed DS1 signal shall have electrical signal characteristics at the Network Interface identical to the framed 1.544 Mbit/s signals described in U S WEST Technical Publication #77375, Issue B, by Network Channel Interface (NCI) Protocol codes DJ, DS, and DU. Complete NCI Codes for Free Framed DS1 with the B8ZS line code are listed in the following table. The AMI line code is not offered with Free Framed DS1.

The NC NCI code combinations for ordering the service will be provided in U S WEST's Technical Publication #77200, Issue B.
The availability performance objectives cited in Technical Publication #77375 will be applicable to Free Framed DS1. However, performance messages such as CRCs, Slips, loss of Frame and out of frame will not be visible to U S WEST and therefore will not be collected for Free Framed DS1. All required testing will be intrusive.
