This disclosure announces the deployment of Originating Line Number Screening (OLNS) through Common Channel Signaling Access to the Line Information Data Base (LIDB) using the Signaling System 7 protocol. This is in addition to the access disclosed in Network Disclosure News #68. The original information is reiterated here as this announcement completely replaces #68. An asterisk in the left margin indicates a change or addition to the original disclosure.

Summary: U S WEST offers Common Channel Signaling Access to the Line Information Data Base (LIDB) to Interconnecting Networks (ICN) using the Signaling System 7 protocol. The ICN gains access to the U S WEST network at the Signaling Transfer Point regional pair only to make queries and receive responses

Service Description: Originating Line Number Screening provides an Operator Services System access to expanded additional information about the line originating a telephone call, when a 1+, 0- or 0+ is placed. This expanded capability may be used to determine such things as billing and service restrictions, the Originating InterLATA Carrier, and IntraLATA Presubscription through the use of the Line Information Data Base. Operator Services Systems access this information by launching Originating Line Number Screening queries over the Common Channel Signaling network using the SS7 protocol to the Line Information Data Base containing the originating line information.
