Route Diversity
Customers may purchase two QWave services using diverse geographical
routes for enhanced security. Qwest also offers a diversity
enhancement as an additional service to the standard QWave
service, to assist you with minimizing operational and financial
risk from network interruptions. The figure below illustrates
an example of QWave service route diversity.

SONET Overhead Transparency
QWave service provides transparent customer-facing interface
for complete SONET overhead. As a result, customers are able
to pass Data Communications Channel (DCC) information end
to end, employ Automatic Protection Switching (APS), and monitor
and manage the circuit by having access to all the SONET overhead
bytes. DCC is specified in the SONET standards and is used
for operations functions such as alarms, administration data,
signal control information and maintenance messages. It uses
D1-D3 and D4-D12 bytes. APS is specified in the SONET standards
and uses K1 and K2 bytes.
Availability
Qwest QWave service is available in the domestic U.S., subject
to facilities availability, with both inter-city and metro
connectivity.
