    Cable Modem Specifications

Cable modem equipment allows data to be transported at up to 10 Mbps across Qwest Choice OnLine's two-way cable network. The protocol that the cable modem uses is similar in technical nature to an Ethernet LAN or 802.3 protocol for a 10 Mbps shared network. However, the cable modem protocol allows a round trip distance of 200 miles instead of the Ethernet-LAN two mile distance limitation.

The 10 Mbps segment will be shared. This means that the average actual throughput you experience will be approximately 3 to 4 Mbps. The service uses TCP/IP protocol and allows a residential user to access any service that uses a TCP/IP connection. Popular TCP/IP services include the full Internet service suite such as the World Wide Web, E-mail, telnet, file transfer protocol and other online services that have TCP/IP connections.
