Qwest Foundation Awards More Than $5,000 to the Scottish Rite Foundation

CHEYENNE, Wyo., Jan. 8, 2008 – The Qwest Foundation has donated more than $5,000 to the Scottish Rite Foundation of Wyoming’s RiteCare program. The grant will be used to help RiteCare continue to offer free speech therapy to children in several Wyoming communities.

"RiteCare is a creative program that helps Wyoming children improve their communications skills," said Michael Ceballos, Qwest president for Wyoming. "Qwest is proud to support an organization that makes such a difference in the lives of our state’s children.".

Ceballos presented the grant check to the Scottish Rite Masons during the Cheyenne Childhood Language Clinic’s annual holiday party on Friday, Dec. 14. The event honored the language clinic’s fall session participants who completed their therapy and graduated from the program.

“We are grateful to the Qwest Foundation for its financial assistance with the RiteCare program,” said Bob Schrader, president of the Scottish Rite Foundation. “Our clinics in Cheyenne, Sheridan and Rock Springs offer children free speech and language assistance from licensed, qualified speech therapists, and this grant will help ensure Wyoming’s children continue to benefit from RiteCare.”

Any child aged 18 years and younger who suffers from a speech-related problem is eligible for the RiteCare program. The program works closely with schools, Head Start and Stride Learning Center to identify children who can benefit from RiteCare. Professional clinicians and therapists provide group and one-on-one therapy aimed at improving a child’s communication skills.
