LARAMIE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND QWEST FOUNDATION TO HOST ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP FOR WYOMING STUDENTS

Qwest Foundation’s $10,000 Grant Supports Leadership Program and Education Kits

CHEYENNE, Wyo., Feb. 7, 2008 – The Qwest Foundation today announced it would partner with Laramie County Community College (LCCC) to support National Entrepreneurship Week 2008. As part of the week’s events, the Qwest Foundation made a $10,000 grant to LCCC to fund the Extreme Entrepreneurship Workshop, as well as classroom entrepreneurship education kits for middle school students.

LCCC’s National Entrepreneurship Week 2008, from Feb. 25 through Feb. 29, features daily events that introduce middle school and high school students to entrepreneurship, business ethics and other “start up”-related topics.

The Extreme Entrepreneurship Workshop, to be held Feb. 27, brings the country’s top young business achievers to the LCCC campus to motivate high school students to find success in leadership and entrepreneurship.

“Last year’s Extreme Entrepreneurship Workshop inspired students to think about how they could succeed in the business world,” said Belinda Kolb, LCCC entrepreneurship program manager. “This year, we expect to introduce even more students to the excitement of venturing into new areas of business and encourage them to achieve their career goals.”

More than 110 students attended last year’s Extreme Entrepreneurship Workshop, which was also supported by the Qwest Foundation.

“Any student interested in charting a solid career course should attend the Extreme Entrepreneurship Workshop,” said Michael Ceballos, Qwest president for Wyoming. “The advice they’ll gain from peers with remarkable experience in entrepreneurship will offer a strong basis for career development and growth.”

High-school students interested in attending the Feb. 27 Extreme Entrepreneurship Workshop should have their teachers RSVP to Kolb at 307-778-1193 or bkolb@lccc.wy.edu by Feb. 15. The workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon.
