QWEST FOUNDATION GRANT BRINGS NOTED SPEAKERS TO NDANO LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

BISMARCK, N.D., June 5, 2008 — The Qwest Foundation today announced a grant of $10,000 to the North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations (NDANO). The grant will support NDANO’s annual leadership conference and will help bring respected speaker Robert Egger to the two-day event. Joining Egger in Bismarck will be general session speaker and Firespring Chief Executive Officer Jay Wilkinson.

NDANO is the premier educational forum for leaders in North Dakota’s nonprofit industry. At the leadership conference, to be held June 10 and 11, nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers and organizational directors will receive training on issues that face the nonprofit sector, including fundraising, governance, planning, communication and more.

“North Dakota nonprofit organizations devote an incredible level of dedication to our communities, and Qwest is proud to support the NDANO conference and help further citizenship, advocacy and service in our state,” said Scott Macintosh, Qwest North Dakota president.

One of NDANO’s goals for the conference is to drive the “ingredients for nonprofit success,” this year’s theme. Egger, founder and president of the DC Central Kitchen, which provides unemployed men and women the opportunity to learn marketable culinary skills, and author of a well-known book on making the most of nonprofit organizations, will outline success as he welcomes attendees with the conference kick-off address on June 10 and speaks to the future of the nonprofit sector.

“NDANO strives to provide our member organizations with the resources and support to fulfill their individual missions, and this year’s conference goes a long way toward advancing each of their causes,” said NDANO Executive Director Dana Shaar. “Now in its fifth year, the Qwest Foundation’s continued support of our members’ important work is greatly appreciated.”

The conference will be held at the Best Western Doublewood Inn and Conference Center in Bismarck. Online registration is available on NDANO’s “education and training” Web page. Walk-up registrations will also be accepted. Additional information can be found in the conference brochure.
