EMPLOYEE GETS $3,850 QWEST GRANT FOR CHRISTIAN OUTREACH PROGRAM OF ELKHORN
QWEST GRANT DETAILS
- Qwest today announced a $3,850 donation to Christian Outreach Program of Elkhorn (COPE), a non-profit organization that assists those in need. The grant was made on behalf of Arlis Dowding, a Qwest employee.
- The grant is part of the Qwest Family and Work Development program, through which a board — made up of Qwest’s management and union employees —allocates funds each year. Qwest employees nominate qualifying organizations, and if selected, the organization receives a donation from Qwest in the employee’s name.
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH PROGRAM OF ELKHORN
- COPE is an organization of Christians whose goals are to assist people who have needs that are temporarily greater than their resources.
- Provides food, clothing, household goods, shelter improvement, health and dental assistance, furniture, rent/utility assistance, fellowship opportunities, and weekly ESL classes.
- Offers support to anyone regardless of religious, cultural, or ethnic background.
- The $3,850 grant will fund the Youth Tutoring program -- an after school activity that brings younger students together with high-school tutors to help with homework and mentoring.
