Competitive connectivity

To stay competitive in today’s global economy you need the right network for transmitting all of your mission-critical information. However, the right network today might not be the right network for you tomorrow. Designed to grow with your virtual enterprise, Qwest Frame Relay combines the dedicated speed and security of a private line with the reliability, flexibility and scalability of the Qwest high-speed network. The result: less infrastructure and greater reach with a potential reduction in the cost of doing business.

Outside the Qwest in-region area, Qwest Frame Relay merges the national and international reach of the Macro Capacity® Fiber Network with a densely deployed Frame Relay network in the Qwest in-region area (AZ, CO, IA, ID, MN, MT, ND, NE, NM, OR, SD, UT, WA and WY). Using network-to-network interface (NNI) technology and a third-party network service provider, customers can obtain high quality Frame Relay connectivity with competitive service level agreements (SLAs).

Enhancing a proven technology

Qwest Frame Relay is a proven high-speed data packet data service, ideal for LAN-to-LAN connectivity, host to remote site communications, or wherever "bursty" traffic patterns must be supported. It allows your geographically dispersed locations to exchange Internet, data, image and voice communications. With Qwest Frame Relay, you’ll receive:

  • Connectivity to an extensive Frame Relay network reach within the 34 Qwest out-of-region states and in those in-region states granted regulatory relief
  • Some of the highest port speeds available–56 Kbps up to and including 45 Mbps
  • Bandwidth-on-demand capability
  • Seamless applications translation through interfacing with the Qwest ATM network
  • A network-to-network Interface (NNI) to BellSouth local access transport areas (LATAs) for access to the out-of-region Macro Capacity Fiber Network
  • An optional complementary third party arrangement with Qwest serving as the initial point of contact and a single bill in-region (customers may select other interexchange carriers)
  • Competitive service level agreements on both the in- and out-of-region networks
  • An initial point of contact for all service-related issues
  • Optional comprehensive management of all equipment and connections
  • Qwest ControlTM for browser-based network management out-of-region
  • Two out-of-region connectivity options, including permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) and asymmetrical permanent virtual circuits
  • Three quality of service (QoS) classes out-of-region to help you prioritize traffic on a per-circuit basis: Variable Frame Rate real time (VFR-rt), Variable Frame Rate non-real time (VFR-nrt) and Unspecified Frame Rate (UFR)

A proven choice for mainframes or LANs in various locations, or, if you have outgrown your private line network and need a cost effective alternative, Qwest Frame Relay is the ideal option for you.

Qwest Domestic Frame Relay Service is directly connected to the Qwest® Macro Capacity® Fiber Network in the United States. Qwest can also provide Frame Relay Service internationally in over 60 countries worldwide. Service may require CPE purchase and minimum term of commitment.
