Qwest ATM is customizable, offering a variety of capabilities and service options. Five Quality of Service (QoS) levels are available to meet the priority needs of each application:
- Constant Bit Rate (CBR) is equivalent to private line and provides the highest service prioritysupports real-time applications like voice, videoconferencing and video distribution, interactive multimedia and private line circuit emulation.
- Variable Bit Rate real time (VBRrt) is intended for real-time applications like packetized voice or audio, real-time and near-real-time video, and time sensitive data.
- Variable Bit Rate non-real time(VBRnrt) is designed for applications such as internetworking (Web hosting or e-commerce), ATM/Frame Relay service interworking, store and forward non-real-time video and audio, client-server data applications and "bursty" type applications.
- Available Bit Rate (ABR) is designed for non-real-time applications such as LAN interconnection, Internet services (FTP, Internet browsing, e-mail), non-mission-critical data transport and Extranet access.
- Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) is "best effort" service and provides no service guarantees. UBR is suited for LAN emulation, remote terminal, fax, e-mail, Internet/Intranet access and file transfers.
