A Qwest Private Routed Network solution consists of a secure, managed, fully
interoperable and scalable global IP-VPN service. It is based on high performance
platforms designed to minimize network management, operational and financial
burdens imposed by other wide area networking (WAN) and security technologies.
The service includes Network VPN ports, advanced network layer features, Remote
Access VPN, integrated customer premises equipment (CPE) solutions, Network
Management Services and the Qwest Control™ Web-based management tool.
The service is a network-based VPN solution utilizing Internet Protocol Security
(IPSec) that is designed for intra- and/or inter-company communications.
Features
Private Routed Network features include:
- Internet protocol security (IPSec) with line-speed data encryption standard
(DES) and 3DES encryption
- Integrated Internet access
- Network-based firewall with denial of service (DoS) protection and anti-spoofing/source
address verification. The service includes an International Computer Security
Association (ICSA) certified, stateful inspection engine, meaning that it
not only inspects packets, but application flows. It extracts state-related
information required from all application layers from the security decision
and interprets these packets into "conversations." It tracks the types of
connections that are made, and looks for any abnormal behavior in a conversation.
- Network address translation (NAT)
- Remote access services via Dial, DSL, ISDN or other IP access methodologies
- Remote workers can participate in company intranets or extranets wherever
they may be located
- Connectivity to off-net locations via dedicated IP connectivity from any
service provider around the world. IPSec connections are established between
integrated CPE solutions and a Qwest Network VPN gateway to facilitate participation
in the customers private routed network.
- Network Management Service (NMS) for customer access routers providing organizations
with a comprehensive fully managed solution. In-band VPN monitoring/management
tools eliminate the need for a separate dedicated circuit. As many Qwest VPN
customers will require new routers for their external network connection,
a robust portfolio CPE options is also available through Qwest Global Services.
- The Qwest Control management tool provides customers with online forms to
configure their service. Customers can view firewall security and network
address translation policies, configure their network and administer end-user
remote access security credentials. This functionality complements a set of
directory-enabled, policy-based, "self-service" implementation tools
that function as a part of robust operational support systems (OSS)/business
support systems (BSS) with flow-through provisioning built to enable efficient
ordering, provisioning and lifecycle management.
- Optional security solutions including intrusion detection services, vulnerability
assessments and customized professional services at an additional cost
