The Qwest ATM network is transported over an infrastructure which provides high-speed, high-capacity capabilities. ATM port speeds are available from DS1, NxDS1 IMA (1.544 Mbps and Nx1.544 Mbps) up to OC-12 (622 Mbps). Qwest ATM also offers seamless interworking between Frame Relay and ATM, and supports PVCs that connect your ATM network to the Internet (Dedicated Internet Access product). Qwest ATM supports the following options for customized service:

  • Permanent virtual circuits (PVCs)
  • Switched virtual circuits (SVCs) - Qwest Domestic Network
  • Permanent virtual paths (PVPs)

Asymmetrical virtual circuits allowing traffic to travel at different rates in different directions (e.g., 5 Mbps outbound, 10 Mbps inbound) are also available. For customers that wish to outsource the management of their network, Qwest also offers Network Management Services solutions that include installation, maintenance and configuration of the ATM CPE.
