FAQ
Q. What is Qwest® Internet Port?
A. Qwest Internet Port is a type of connection to the Internet. Essentially, your computer system is connected through
a channel service unit/digital service unit (CSU/DSU) to a router that sends information over a DS-1, DS-3, or optical circuit
to the Qwest Internet protocol (IP) network. Once routed over the Qwest IP backbone, the data is driven by the distant-end IP
address to the appropriate site.
Q. What is currently included in the Qwest Internet Port service level agreement (SLA)?
A. This SLA is among the best in the industry. It includes:
- Network availability: A goal of 100 percent network availability for all components of the Qwest IP network and
Qwest-provided domestic local access (network downtime is measured from the time a trouble ticket is opened by the Qwest trouble
management system to the time the affected circuit is able to transmit and receive data).
- Average Intra-U.S. round-trip network delay: 50 millisecond round-trip delay averaged over every trunk in the continental
United States Qwest IP network
- Off-net average round-trip delay*: 95 millisecond round-trip delay between Qwest's network and other leading networks.
This data is collected and provided via Keynote Systems, Inc. The market-leading performance of Qwest's network is clear as
seen through the eyes of this independent Internet performance authority.
- Jitter: Two milliseconds averaged over every trunk in the continental United States Qwest IP network.
- Packet delivery: 99.5 percent packets averaged over every trunk in the Qwest AS209 network.
- Customer notification of outages: Within 10 minutes of detected outage, a message informs the customer that services
are unavailable in the Qwest AS209 network (i.e., router is unable to transmit and/or receive data).
- Normal maintenance upgrades (hardware, software and/or capacity): Five- and ten-day notification to affected customers,
depending on which network is being maintained.

*Off-Net SLA includes components of certain other Internet backbone providers in certain locations in the Intra-U.S. region.
