Qwest® in-region DS-3 service consists of a high-capacity channel provisioned for transmission speeds of 44.736 Mbps isochronous serial data having a line code of bipolar three zero substitution (B8ZS). The end-to-end, digital transmission delivers a clean and pure signal-free of cross talk, amplified noise and distortion. The following features are included in the Qwest in-region DS-3 service:

In many areas, DS-3 service is available as part of Qwest's Sonet Ring Services with industry-leading levels of reliability, redundancy and value.

Pricing
Qwest DS-3 is filed and priced in the interstate or intrastate tariffs, catalog or price lists. The interstate pricing plans are 12 months, 24 months. 36 months, 48 months, or 60 months on a Regional Commitment Program (RCP). The intrastate service is offered on one-year through seven-year contract terms. Intrastate DS-3 service may be priced on an individual case basis.
The DS-1/DS-3 Regional Commitment Plan (RCP) is a volume- and term-commitment plan available to customers in the interstate tariff. The RCP program offers customers a 20 percent discount on interstate rates. Please contact your Qwest Communications Account Team representative for a RCP pricing presentation.
The following outline pricing options:
- Interstate Fixed Period for 12-, 24-, 36- and 60-months contracts.
- Interstate RCP for 12-, 24-, 36-, 48- and 60-months contracts.
- Intrastate for 12-, 24-, 36-, 48-, 60- and 84-months contracts.
Features
Optional features and functions may be added to DS-3 service to improve its quality and its utility to meet specific communication requirements. Available DS-3 optional features and functions include:
- Central Office Multiplexing: The equipment is located in a central office that draws from 28 DS-1 channels from the DS-3 service.
- Command-a-Link is available in selected central offices, and allows the customer to control the reconfiguration of private line and switched services on a near real-time basis by means of the special provisioning of these services through a digital cross-connect device.
- SHARP/SHARP Plus (Self-Healing Alternate Route Protection/Self-Healing Interoffice Protection): Provisioned solely on fiber optics and provides a separate facility path for the protection between the serving wire center and the customer premises. It protects the customer against failure of the primary fiber route and the electronics in the local loop. The SHARP Plus feature extends the same alternate route protection into the interoffice portion of the circuit.

Qwest Private Line Services are available on an intraLATA basis in the 14-state Qwest service territory: AZ, CO, ID, IA, MN, MT, NE, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, and WY.
