Qwest iQ Networking Enhanced Port

A single port for secure private IP WAN and reliable Internet access

Qwest iQ Networking® Enhanced Port service provides a convenient and cost-effective solution to network locations that need access to your enterprise network as well as the Internet. A single port on your router for both private and public IP services means you no longer have to maintain separate devices and network services, saving you time and money.

Description

Qwest iQ Networking Enhanced Port combines private and public IP service with access through Qwest's reliable Frame Relay and ATM networks at speeds from T-1 to OC-12. A single port connection is configured to include access to Qwest iQ Networking Private Port and Internet Port as well as the Internet. The service separates public traffic for your company's private WAN traffic in a manner that ensures the security of your WAN while allowing your users to access all the robust features of the Internet.

Features

  • Single port that combines Internet and corporate enterprise traffic.
  • Quality of service prioritization on the private portion of the traffic.
  • Multiple access speeds.

Benefits

  • Cost-effective solution for enterprise locations requiring access to both the public Internet and the corporate WAN.
  • Ensures that crucial real-time applications such as Voice over IP, video and point of sale are prioritized ahead of e-mail or Internet access.
  • Guaranteed network performance and availability.
  • The right speed at the right price to meet your data networking needs.
How it works

Qwest iQ Networking Enhanced Port uses Frame Relay or ATM access to define separate private virtual circuits (PVCs) or VCs that direct traffic to the private corporate WAN and the Internet through a single router interface. Separate PVC and VCs are used to isolate communities of interest such as sales and finance. This ensures that the sales department is logically separated from the computer resources of the finance department.

To facilitate access into the network, you have the option of a variety of port speeds, ranging from 64 Kbps to OC-12 (622 Mbps). The following port types are available in fractional or full access speeds:

  • Frame Relay—Fractional DS-1 starting at 64 Kbps
  • Frame Relay and ATM DS-1 (1.544 Kbps)
  • ATM Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA) NxDS-1 (three to 12 Mbps)
  • Frame Relay and ATM DS-3 (45 Mbps)
  • ATM OC-3 (155 Mbps) and OC-12 (622 Mbps)
