Qwest Domestic Private Line Service
Protect your virtual enterprise and secure traffic between locations
For your business to compete in today’s ever-changing marketplace, you must extend your
market reach using tools such as the Internet and advanced communications systems. As
the speed of virtual business accelerates with newer and better technologies, your need
to protect key business operations from competition and downtime becomes even greater. In response,
Qwest® offers
Private Line services that protect your critical business traffic and provide exceptional
reliability and accessibility. Qwest Domestic Private Line provides the peace of mind
that your internal business traffic is transmitted quickly and securely via an end-to-end private
connection. Deployed over the Qwest network, a complete range of digital and analog Private Line
services is available for growing businesses seeking end-to-end provisioning, extensive domestic
and international availability, industry-leading service level agreements (SLAs) and competitive
pricing.
Description
As your company delivers more electronic information over greater distances, the need
to transmit data, video and voice reliably and securely becomes essential. Qwest Private
Line uses advanced synchronization technologies so all of your private line traffic—from
DS-0 to OC-N—is delivered via high-speed connections. Qwest Private Line offers
a variety of line speeds to meet your business needs. Digital Private Line service is
available at DS-0 (64 Kbps), fractional DS-1 (128 Kbps and up), DS-1 (1.544 Mbps), DS-3
(45 Mbps) and OC-N (155 Mbps and up). Digital Private Line services utilize digital local
loops that provide nearly 100 percent end-to-end network availability. Qwest DS-1 service
can also be configured as clear channel or channelized and it is compatible with virtually
all DS-1 systems in use today. For your analog requirements, Qwest Private Line supports
tie lines, off-premises extensions, foreign exchange lines and automatic ring-down lines.
Features
- Robust SLAs—99.999 percent network availability.
- All links are protected
with redundant fiber and self-healing ring technology.
- Private Line supports
voice, video and Internet.
- Qwest Passport Multi-Connect.
- Four-fiber,
bidirectional line-switched ring (BLSR) technology is the gold standard in the synchronous
optical network (SONET) world. Circuits are switched automatically from the working
side to the protect side of the ring within 50 ms.
- Multiplexing (muxing) is
available at DS-1, DS-3 and OC-N circuit levels, depending on customer-selected options
and restrictions. It provides flexibility to connect multiple signals and/or locations
(e.g., point-to-multipoint applications are easily accommodated).
- Network monitoring
and management assists in achieving high levels of performance.
- Domestic Network
Diversity® service
enhancement—On request and subject to availability, Qwest provides a point-to-point
transmission between two Qwest points of presence (POPs) that is provisioned and maintained
as a distinct circuit from your primary on-net circuit. Diversity service is available
as follows:
- Ring diversity
- Route diversity
- Single-circuit diversity
- 24/7
customer support.
Benefits
- Reliable transport service—Scalable, low latency, supports multiple applications
(e.g., data, IP, ATM, voice, video, etc.) and flexible (allows you to build network
configurations).
- Cost
efficient—Allows you to combine multiple incongruent services over one line and
aggregate slower speed services on to high-bandwidth trunks.
- Security—The
telecommunications facility is dedicated for your use, protecting the confidentiality
of your information and making this one of the most secure services available.
- Performance—SLA
includes circuit availability objective of 99.999 percent end-to-end.
- Continuity
of operations—Enhanced Diversity routing assists in planning for disaster recovery.
- Minimal
delay—Private Line accommodates even the most delay-sensitive applications.
- Integrated
services—A single channelized interface on your local access facility provides
access to different voice and data services. Enables cost-effective access to Qwest’s
voice, Private Line and Internet services over one interface.
How it works
The service provides a fixed capacity of bandwidth for transport of your digital communications
traffic, utilizing and conforming to SONET standards that originate and terminate a physical
connection at a Qwest-specified demarcation point located in the Qwest POP. The service
extends to and includes the equipment maintained by Qwest that is necessary to connect
the service to the customer's interconnection facilities at the Qwest-specified network
interface points. Interconnection, collocation, and/or local access services are not
included as part of the Domestic Private Line service, but may be ordered in conjunction,
either through Qwest or other telecommunications providers. |
