Firewall

Qwest® Advanced Networking Modem with Wireless: 2Wire® 2700 HG

Your Qwest® Advanced Networking Modem with Wireless: 2Wire® 2700 HG system incorporates a professional-grade firewall to help deter outside hackers from accessing your home network.

Standard Firewall Settings

Your firewall typically does not need configuration, however, if you choose to modify the standard settings, use these instructions.

The most common reason to modify a firewall setting is to accommodate programs (i.e., game servers and messaging software) that require your permission for Internet users to have limited access to your home network program.

  • A game player on the Internet might need to contact a game server program you’ve installed on your home network.
  • Your firewall default settings block this contact.
  • You may choose to change your firewall settings to permit the Internet user to pass through a “pinhole” in the firewall to reach the correct computer.

Step-by-step instructions are available:

Advanced Firewall Settings

These instructions describe how to access additional firewall configuration rules. Only an experienced network administrator should modify advanced settings.
