What is the difference between the Intel PRO/DSL 2100 and Intel PRO/DSL 2200 modems?
Qwest® Broadband customers may have one of two different versions of the Intel PRO/modems—the 2100 or 2200 model. The Intel 2100 and 2200 modems are not interchangeable. The modems use two different technologies to transport the high-speed Internet traffic; the Intel 2100 uses the CAP transport method, and the Intel 2200 uses the DMT transport method.

Overview

If your operating system is Windows® 95 or Windows 98 and you’ve experienced any of the following errors while using your Intel® PRO/DSL 2100 Modem Software Version 1.0, you should consider downloading and installing the updated software.

After browsing the Web for a short period of time, the modem connection still appears active, but you can’t continue browsing.
You experience a "Windows Protection Error" when you restart your computer the first time after installing the modem.
After installing the modem and starting the computer for the first time, the PC did not recognize the modem as installed.
The modem can’t establish a connection (Error 678 = no answer).
