Qwest DSL provides two different versions of the Actiontec gateway, the 1520 and 1524. The Actiontec 1524 has a built in filtered phone port and an auto-detecting switch. The Actiontec 1520 does not contain these additional features.

When upgrading your modem it is crucial the gateway type is identified before downloading any software for the gateway. If the wrong software version is downloaded, the gateway upgrade will fail.

Please use the following guidelines if you are unsure which Actiontec gateway is in use with your Qwest DSL service.

Actiontec 1520/1524

Identifying if you have an Actiontec 1520 or 1524 Gateway.

STEP 1

Pick up your Actiontec gateway and look at the back of the device.

STEP 2

If your Actiontec gateway has a green line port and a phone port as shown below you have an Actiontec 1524.
