Network Disclosure Announcement #460

Public Notice of Network Change(s), Pursuant to CFR 47, subsections 51.325 - 51.335. Qwest's Internet address: http://www.qwest.com/disclosures.

Informational Announcement:
Western Washington State 564 NPA Overlay

Disclosure Date: February 16, 2001
Updated: October 31, 2001
This disclosure replaces Network Disclosure News #452. Disclosure #452 described the expansion of the 564 NPA over the 360 NPA to an overlay of all of western Washington State (currently 206, 253, 360 and 425 NPAs). This Network Disclosure (#460) announces the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) order to postpone the 564 overlay for an indefinite period of time.

In August 2001, the WUTC determined that NPA relief should be delayed for longer than a year due to increased efficiency in numbering practices. The WUTC directed its staff to monitor number usage on a monthly basis and determine at a later time when to set the start date for a new area code. Once that date is announced, there will be about six months to prepare for the actual introduction of the new area code and the commencement of mandatory 10-digit dialing. This Disclosure will be updated with any new dates or plan changes when information is available.

The WUTC Staff estimates the new area code will not be needed for at least another 12 months.(Fall 2002). Please go to http://wutc.wa.gov/telecom for additional information from the Commission.

Other matters concerning this disclosure can be referred to the Qwest Network Disclosure Manager, Jacob.Barlow@qwest.com.
