Talking Call Waiting
Original Disclosure Date: February 11, 2000
Updated: December 17, 2001
Summary:
This disclosure provides interface and deployment information on the
Qwest Talking Call Waiting feature. This document provides an update to
the location and timing of deployment section.
The Talking Call Waiting Feature (TCW) is a switch based feature
enhancement to the existing Call Waiting feature and is available only
on Nortel DMS100 and Lucent 5ESS switches and their subtending remotes.
The Talking Call Waiting feature works in conjunction with an out board
Intelligent peripheral and permits a subscriber who is on a stable call
in progress to hear the name of an incoming caller. The feature provides
the spoken name immediately following delivery of the call waiting tone.
After the name is heard the call reverts to the standard call waiting
interface functionality. TCW inter-works with Calling Identity Delivery
on Call Waiting (CIDCW) and normal Call Waiting.
TCW feature logic obtains the incoming caller's name utilizing a
Signaling System 7 (SS7) calling name query to LIDB (Line Information
Data Base). CNAM information is sent to an Intelligent Peripheral which,
using text to speech conversion, speaks the waited callerŐs name to the
TCW subscriber.
TCW is an end office software feature available on the Nortel DMS100
switching system as a software patch back to the NA010 generic and in
general availability (RES NA00091) in the NA012 generic. In the 5ESS TCW
is available as feature 99-5E-4605 in the 5E12 and later generics.
Locations and
Timing of Deployment:
