Network Disclosure Announcement #414
Service
Provider Local Number Portability (LNP) Updated 2/05/08
Disclosure Date: April 28, 1998
|
Summary:
|
Consistent with the Telecommunications Act of 1996, FCC Docket 95-116,
QWEST announces the deployment of Service Provider Local Number Portability.
The initial deployment was completed in ten major metropolitan areas by
December 31, 1998, as defined by the FCC. Deployment is now complete in
nearly all Qwest locations.
Local Number Portability provides the end user with the capability to
retain their directory number when changing local service providers. This
variety of number portability also provides for limited location or geographic
portability, as long as and only if the end user customer remains within
the same rate center.
