Long Distance Alert

This document provides an update to the timing where U S WEST Communications plans to deploy Long Distance Alert enhancemewnt to Call Waiting. The following summary and interface specifications were announced in Network Disclosure #384 and are reiterated below as this document completely replaces #384. An asterisk in the left margin denotes a change or addition from the previous release.
Summary:	This disclosure announces U S WEST Communications intent to deploy Long Distance Alert service on a limited basis. This Call Waiting and Distinctive Ringing service modifies the current call waiting and ringing operation to allow for distinctive call waiting tone or a distinctive ringing pattern for long distance type calls. The calls coming in over IC trunks will be treated as long distance calls. The calls coming in over LTOLLCON trunks will be screened to determine if they are long distance by checking the Signaling System 7 (SS7) parameters: Calling Party Number and Charge Party Number. Thus, this service only applies to local end-offices with SS7. If there is no Calling Party Number and no Charge Party Number, and the call comes in over an LTOLLCON trunk, then the switch will treat the call as a long distance type call.

Service Description:	Deployment of Long Distance Alert will enhance the call waiting feature for existing call waiting customers by sending a distinctive ring and/or distinctive call waiting tone. It will be offered as one product, made up of distinctive ring and distinctive call waiting tone when subscribing customers receive a long distance call.
