Students will also be able to perform DNA fingerprinting and PCR experiments, be able to compare DNA samples at hypothetical crime scenes. One of the exciting projects with this would be to genetically manipulate the DNA from a jellyfish and E.coli to cause the glowing gene from the jellyfish to function and glow in the E.coli, leading to a discussion of how pharmaceutical companies develop new drugs and products.
