About the Grant Program

Technology can help make many classroom subjects more engaging and interactive, thereby building strength in math, science and other important areas. With the 2009 Qwest Teachers and Technology program, teachers across Colorado have the opportunity to share $200,000 in grants for their technology-related programs.

This year, educators in the Denver metro area will compete for $100,000 in grants, while educators outside of the metro will have the opportunity to secure an additional $100,000 in grants for their schools.

The third year of the program seeks to broaden access to technology for students and teachers by increasing the total grant amount, and by incorporating even more school districts into the list of eligible schools.

The Qwest Teacher and Technology grants are awarded through a competitive process administered by the Public Education + Business Coalition. Eligible K-12 teachers must submit a completed grant application by March 10, 2009. Each application will be reviewed and evaluated by a blue-ribbon panel of education, business and civic leaders.

Winning individuals and team leaders will be notified no later than May 8, 2009. Funds for 75 percent of the grant will be awarded by May 29, 2009. Funds for the remaining 25 percent of the grant shall be awarded after the recipient has submitted a required expense report (see grant guidelines).

In alignment with the goals of the Qwest Foundation, the Teachers and Technology grant program aims to improve K-12 education and continue to demonstrate Qwest's solid commitment to supporting enhanced student learning and engagement by encouraging teachers to be innovative in their classrooms.
