Playground Maps
Qwest Pioneers are working with elementary schools in our 14 state territory to bring geography home to kids. By painting a large (20 by 30 foot), colorful map of the United States on school playgrounds, Pioneers provide students with a tangible and fun way to learn about the nation. Teachers use the maps in fun ways to help their classes connect with geography lessons. For example, students might be asked to run to Montana, or toss a beanbag onto the state whose capitol is Denver.
