Community Volunteerism
Over 50,000 strong, Qwest employees are passionate about enriching and strengthening the diverse communities we serve. Our Spirit of Service is demonstrated everyday by actively engaging in the community as volunteers, board members and good corporate citizens. Through this engagement, our commitment extends far beyond financial support.
Qwest Pioneers
Qwest Pioneers are people just like you. They are current and retired employees of Qwest who are committed to making a difference by donating their time and talents to meaningful community service projects.
The Qwest Pioneers contribute over 1 million hours of volunteer service each year in our 14-state territory,
making a difference in the lives of others!
The Qwest Pioneers, partners and families contribute towards many great projects that support their communities. Projects vary by state, but following is a sampling:
- Delivering "I Like Me" books to Kindergartners
- Building with Habitat for Humanity
- Working with Junior Achievement
- Painting playground maps
- Fixing Talking Book machines for the blind
- Helping with Special Olympics
- Cleaning highways
- Sewing Hug-a-Bears for children in traumatic situations
- Building wheelchair access ramps in parks and forests
- Creating "Beep Balls" so that the visually impaired can play baseball
- Calling seniors to warn of phone fraud
If you are a nonprofit organization seeking Qwest volunteers, please register your project with your local volunteer center or United Way.
