United Way of Weld County Receives Grant from Qwest Foundation To Support Local Families in Need
Greeley, CO December 23, 2004
-- Weld County's children and families will benefit from the $15,000 grant awarded today from the Qwest Foundation, Qwest Communications’ giving program. This year’s grant marks a more than a 500 percent increase in the grant awarded in 2003.
“We are so grateful to Qwest for making this donation at a time when our community is in great need,” said Jeannine Truswell, Executive Director of United Way of Weld County. “With the recently announced local layoffs, our requests from the community for support have increased tremendously. This significant increase in support from Qwest is the type of corporate support that will help our community better cope with the heavy economic impact that accompanies this type of job loss in our area. We hope that other corporate citizens will follow Qwest’s lead and step up their support at this challenging time.”
United Way of Weld County is dedicated to connecting people to the services they need. People are also not always aware of all the resources available to assist them in overcoming difficulties or meeting needs. United Way encourages community members who need help or who have family that needs help to call 2-1-1, which is an easy way to seek health and human services information and referrals.
“Supporting Colorado communities is a priority for the Qwest Foundation,” said Ric Padilla, Qwest Vice President of corporate responsibility. “Weld County has been hit hard this holiday season with the recent layoff announcement. We are thrilled to support an organization that helps provide families with the services they need.”
