QWEST FOUNDATION GRANT BRINGS NEW TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO APPLETON LIBRARY
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Jan. 19, 2006
— The Qwest Foundation, Qwest Communications' philanthropic program, recently donated $5,000 to the Appleton Public Library for new materials for the after-school program and computer upgrades. The donation is part of Qwest's ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of the communities it serves.
"In a small community, a public library must be a lot of things to a lot of people," said Librarian Cindy Hendrix. "The Qwest grant allows the Appleton Public Library to replace computers and give our patrons important access to technology."
The Qwest Foundation grant will be used to buy new materials for the "Reading Buddies" after-school program as well as upgrade the library's computers. The Appleton Public Library makes an ongoing effort to update materials to promote lifelong reading interest and skills for children.
"Qwest is proud to support the Appleton Public Library and its focus on serving the community through reading and access to technology," said John Stanoch, Qwest president for Minnesota. "Our donation is part of Qwest's Spirit of Service commitment to making a positive difference in the communities where Minnesota customers live and work."
