Qwest Foundation Grant Helps Fund Santa Fe Boys & Girls Clubs After-School Program
Grant Details
The Qwest Foundation, Qwest Communications’ philanthropic program, donated $5,000 to the Santa Fe Boys & Girls Clubs to support the Project Learn program, which helps students with their homework and increases student achievement in reading, writing and math. The grant funds tutors and educational supplies, including books and interactive CD-ROMs.
About the Project Learn Program
Santa Fe Boys & Girls Clubs began their Project Learn program in the fall of 2003 to help increase literacy and math scores of children ages 6-17. New Mexico has some of the lowest reading and math scores in the country, and the Boys & Girls Clubs monitor participants’ progress.
More than 1,200 youth throughout Santa Fe County participated in the Project Learn program during the 2003-2004 school year, averaging 265-270 students each day.
About The Santa Fe Boys & Girls Clubs
The Santa Fe Boys & Girls Clubs aims to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Founded in 1938, the Santa Fe Boys & Girls Clubs operates four clubs and is the oldest provider of outside-school-hours programs in Santa Fe County.
